Ramadan a month of mercy, Altaf Bukhari

To rejoice the spirit of Ramadan with the people belonging to different walks of life, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education and Chairman District Development Board Baramulla yesterday evening hosted an Iftar party at Dak Bungalow in the town.
The socio-religious event was organized in observance of the holy month of Ramadan’s message of spreading love, affection and mutual trust among all and was attended by people from almost all sections of the society.
Besides Minister for Horticulture Syed Basharat Bukhari, legislators including Javed Ahmad Beigh, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Abdul Rashid Dar, Ghulam Nabi Monga, the party was attended by senior members of Bar Association Baramulla, leaders from different political parties, members of business associations, journalist from print and electronic media, members of civil society, office bearers of fruit growers associations of Baramulla and Sopore and members of trade unions of the district.
Senior sectoral officers, principals of schools and colleges besides officers from police, paramilitary forces and army also attended the function. The Iftar began with the traditional breaking of fast and offering of Maghrib Namaz (Dusk Prayers). This was followed by dinner in which customary Wazwan was served.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education and Chairman DDB Baramulla highlighted that the spirit behind organizing the event, was to celebrate the core values of our society, epitomized by unity in diversity and universal brotherhood.
Bukhari described Ramadan as a month of mercy, during which the soul is purified and the body is cleansed. “This holy month is not only a month of “moral abstinence,” it also has the social virtue of creating new bonds of understanding between all classes of people,” he said on hosting the Iftar party.
The Minister for Education later thanked all the guests for their presence during this pious event and wished for peace and harmony to prevail in Kashmir. (KNS)
