Chairs High-Level Meeting to Review Traffic Decongestion Measures

Kulgam, March 25 : In a bid to streamline traffic mobility, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today chaired a high-level meeting of officers to review and strengthen traffic decongestion measures in Kulgam town.

The meeting as per Kashmir News Corner—KNC) saw participation from SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), DySP Traffic, Tehsildar Kulgam, and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, the DC conducted a detailed assessment of traffic management strategies, focusing on congestion-prone areas, bottlenecks, and busy market stretches. He stressed the urgent need for coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement across the town.

He directed officers to remove encroachments from footpaths immediately, enabling citizens to move freely and safely.

He further instructed a crackdown on illegal parking and unauthorized occupation of public spaces that worsen traffic congestion.

The DC emphasized proper utilization of designated parking areas, regulation of roadside parking, and rationalization of route permits. Measures to control loading and unloading timings for commercial vehicles and optimize public transport stops were also reviewed.

The Deputy Commissioner called for intensified enforcement drives to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations, particularly at major junctions and high-traffic zones, aiming to improve both convenience and safety for residents and commuters.

The meeting concluded with a strong directive for immediate action, underscoring that smooth traffic regulations management in Kulgam town requires joint responsibility and strict compliance by all stakeholders. (KNC)
