TANGMARG, JAN 21 (KNS) : A coalition of key trade and tourism associations held a joint press conference in Tangmarg on Wednesday, acknowledging government efforts to revitalize the local tourism economy while calling for further steps to ensure full recovery.

The conference was convened by the presidents of several prominent industry bodies. Attendees included Javid Ahmad Khan of the Guide Association; Mohammad Subhan and Bashir Ahmad of the ATV Association; Tariq Ahmad Khan of the North Kashmir Travel Agents Association; Manzoor Ahmad Lone of the Snow Mobile Association; Tariq Ahmad Lone of the Pony Association; and Javid Ahmad Dar of the Tangmarg Trade Association. Office bearers of the Gulmarg Trade Association were also present.

In a statement, the association leaders extended their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, and the Tourism Department for their sustained support of the sector.

The representatives acknowledged a severe downturn in tourist arrivals following the recent Pahalgam incident. They noted, however, that concerted efforts by the government and the Tourism Department—particularly through a series of organized tourism events—have begun to gradually restore visitor numbers.

While welcoming this positive trend, the associations urged authorities to reopen all remaining closed tourism facilities and activities. They emphasized that such measures are crucial to fully capitalize on the recovering momentum, further boost tourism, and secure the livelihoods of the local population dependent on the industry.(KNS)
