Retired army man shot at in Kulgam, injured

Militants on Sunday evening shot at and injured a retired army man in Bachroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

He was identified as Abdul Hameed Matoo of Bachroo village of the district. Matoo has served in Territory Army.

A police official said late in the evening at around 9 pm militants fired upon Matoo at his native village. He received serious wounds and was rushed to SDH Qaimoh for treatment.

Doctors said he had two bullet wounds and was referred to GMC Anantnag.

Soon after the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
