Jammu, February 1: The 7th edition of the Chinar Premier League (CPL) concluded on a thrilling note at the historic M.A. Stadium Jammu on Sunday, with Royal Legends Jammu emerging as champions after defeating WCC Lolipora in a closely contested final.
The tournament was organized by Mehboob-ul-Alam Sports Club (MACC) with support from AD Caps Anantnag, witnessing enthusiastic participation and strong sportsmanship throughout the competition.
After winning the toss, Royal Legends Jammu elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 133 runs on the board. Akash Choudhary (41), Jatin (28), Ram Dayal (28), and Yogesh (19) were the main contributors with the bat. For WCC Lolipora, Zeeshan Zahoor and Dar Junaid picked up two wickets each.
In reply, WCC Lolipora fought hard but managed 124 runs, falling short by nine runs. Mujtaba Yousuf (42), Asif Rasool (19), Nadeem Dar (19), and Zeeshan Zahoor (18) played important knocks. Ishu delivered an outstanding bowling spell, claiming three wickets, while Anchal Singh took two wickets.
For his match-winning performance, Ishu was declared Man of the Match, while Adnan Malik of Dr. XI received the Player of the Tournament award.
Speaking on the successful completion of the tournament, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Shah, Chairman CPL & MACC Kashmir, appreciated the management team for their exceptional coordination and dedication. He noted that despite security concerns around Republic Day, harsh winter conditions, and logistical challenges, the event was conducted smoothly, including effective turf and ground management.
He extended special thanks to Waseem Baba (Chief Organizer), Zahid Farooq (Co-Organizer), Manzoor Ahmad (Member & Commentator), local umpires, ground staff of M.A. Stadium, JK Sports Council, team owners, sponsors, physios, players, and cricket lovers. He also acknowledged the efforts of social media handlers Faizan Mehraj, Rayees Ahmad, Ruhil Farooq, and Mehraj Malla for promoting the event.
During the closing ceremony, Ms. Dolly Tiku Arwal, Member Sahitya Academy New Delhi, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, congratulated both teams and emphasized the importance of sports like cricket in engaging youth positively and promoting physical and mental well-being across the Union Territory of J&K.
Syed Farhat, Social Activist and Journalist, also shared his views, encouraging players and spectators and appreciating the league’s role in nurturing local talent and fostering unity through sports.
The successful conclusion of CPL Season 7 once again highlighted the growing passion for cricket in the region and reaffirmed the league’s commitment to promoting sportsmanship and youth engagement in Jammu & Kashmir.
