Apni Party president Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday welcomed the Centre’s approval of two tunnel projects worth Rs 9,779.42 crore, saying these will provide all-weather connectivity between the Chenab region and the Kashmir Valley.

In a statement, Bukhari said the proposed tunnels – from Sudhmahadev (Udhampur) to Dranga (Doda), and Singhpora (Kishtwar) to Vailoo (Anantnag) – will reduce distance and travel time for people.

“These remarkable projects will enable faster, safer, and more reliable travel between Doda, Kishtwar, and Udhampur in Jammu, and Anantnag in the Valley,” he said.

The Apni Party chief said the tunnels are “not just made of concrete and steel” but pathways that will connect people and bring regions closer.

He extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for fulfilling the “long-cherished aspiration” of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
