Srinagar | Monday, 18th September, 2017: National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar on Monday visited number of Imambaras of his constituency and reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Ashoora (Muharram) days.
During the visit, Sagar accompanied by officers from PDD, Water works, R&B, SMC, health and Food & Supplies impressed upon the administration to make sure that there are no inconveniences or inadequacies on part of the administration during Muharram days. The Imambaras that he visited include Shamswari, Sheesh Gari Mohalla, Nowpora Kullipora, Daulatabad, Kawangar Pora.
He stressed upon the administration to ensure that enough stock of essential commodities including rice, atta, sugar, kerosene oil and fuel must be kept available in thickly populated Shia areas of the city.
On the occasion Sagar impressed upon the PDP-BJP government to desist from keeping downtown areas under clampdown. “Ever since this government came to power, a frontal assault has been launched on those who wish to offer Friday prayers at the historical Jamia Masjid Nowhatta by keeping it out of bounds for people particularly on Fridays,” he said.
