Peoples Conference chief Sajad Lone has raised questions regarding the funding of Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that their salaries are financed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) through the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme.

In a post on X, Lone sought clarification on whether the Jammu and Kashmir administration had introduced additional payments for SPOs beyond the MHA-funded salaries.

“The salaries of SPOs are funded by MHA through SRE. Still, if the state government has created or invented a way to supplement their salaries—some clarification on that. Per se it is MHA domain,” he wrote.

Lone also mentioned that his post was a repost after the National Conference (NC) handle on X allegedly deleted a similar post.(KNS)
