Poem-3
Author: ShahNawaz Nazir
The lonely, wail of the winds blows,
It’s an insubordinate heart, but tender as snow.
They make me utter the things none is willing to say.
A heretic truth at the break of day.
Flame is in every glance that one has.
A love they can never call by his name.
But if only they were able to see
What lies behind the pains and aches?
I maintain that I hold the universe within me, its stars.
Holding hands with shades and swirling with beams.
Where there is much darkness, I find what is light.
If only the people of the world listen to my wail.
To fly with me, to reach the sky.
These are the laws that they make,
These are the binds that they create.
Cannot contain what I think.
Conquer to none, by love I am not vanquished.
A heretic, with an open hand.
Let’s last call
The sacred halls, the whispered vow.
I bear witness of them on my forehead.
If only they could open their eyes and ears to the things I say.
And the love, despite the darkness.
So in short, put up the stones and start a fire.
My truth will burn and my love will never cease.
For in my heart, there exists a light.
Which murmur’s the hope, and snaps every yoke.
I bring love – no strings attached,
Religion, and any prejudice whatsoever.
A holy way to walk for all uninspired.
If only they knew the fire I have burning.
A truth that is both daring and unapologetic;
one of a heretic.
In every step, in every sigh,
There is a zigzag line as part of her palm, as earth;
I swear this line touches the sky.
Only if the people of the world would walk this way.
And in its rightful place, learn to welcome the day.
Let them judge and fear, let them grovel at my feet.
The company won’t ease your solitude,
But walking alone draws you closer, complete.
For love is freedom, and so am I—
A heretic with wings to fly.
