Poem ~ 4
By Dr. Surinder Tikoo
Samawar – A Whisper of Yore Mornings, it adorned the kitchen in silent grace,
Brewing Kehwa, the picture now in time’s embrace. A golden glow, wafting a fragrant sigh,
Cardamom Cinnamon whispers drifting by. Bronze cups cradled in careful hold,
A handkerchief guarding fingers in fold.
Sips of Kehwa, rich and deep,
Echoes of chatter, moments to keep. Through wedding nights with songs that swayed, Hour by hour, samawar, its gift of kehwa poured
With Bàkirkhàni served crisp and light,
Bites of it and kehwa sips kept us awake all night Now it rests in homes or museums on a shelf,
A nostalgic relic wrapped in time itself.
But in its curves, the lost past still gleams,
A symbol of friendship, warmth, a keeper of dreams.
Dr. Surinder Tikoo: A Lens on Nostalgia
Hobby photographer Suren Tikoo blends imagery with poetry, capturing moments that stir deep memories. A recent click of a Samawar at a relative’s home sparked nostalgia, inspiring him to pen a poem. He now shares both, hoping they resonate with readers.
