Poem -03 ( April 2025)
Bird Watching
By Rafiya Syeed
I look at the shimmering kaleidoscopic wings
of the kingfisher flitting over the fence pole rings;
thick-yellow oriole perched on the thistle bush
is joining the chaffinch in seed eating push.
Their branded attires from soft to warm shades
display the colour wheel through the glades.
A pair of warblers lament on the gnarled weeds
about drying up of the old pond reeds;
shiny black koel with a whistling thrush
perform jugalbandi on the hedgerow, so lush.
This instrumental and rhythmic thesaurus
Is a live euphonious melody chorus.
