Poem ~7
Titled:
I Have Found Myself In You
By Anju Kapoor
I Have Found Myself in You-
Could I ever convey to you what you mean to me?
You are a poem I imagine in many-hued emotions,
soulfully absorbing me.
I know the many feelings between us
are always subtly understood—
sometimes in silence,
and at times, just a gaze would suffice.
Conversations were like fragrant poppies swaying in open fields,
and in between these conversations,
I have often found you—
found our smiles,
found our tears,
found your care,
draping my vulnerability with your formidable strength.
You were always there with me.
Could there come a misunderstanding that would distance our hearts?
Where heartache and pain would be sharp and piercing?
Angst sometimes did hurt, and I did not deny that.
But,
like a heavy cloudburst, it rained wet tears,
and then sunshine on our lips would usher in a new day.
Could there ever be a reason for me to feel lost?
Would the walls within our beating hearts shrink?
Seldom did they.
The touch of your
warm, composed hand assured me.
Your memory is my keepsake.
I have only found myself in you—
alive and breathing in your arms.
In you, I am home—whole, eternal, and free.
