Poem ~ 8
By Pratima Apte
Let’s begin the day, by thanking all the trail-blazers of our woman tribe, Malala, Maya Angelou, Savitribai Phule to name a few, May their lives, blessings and words empower us to be more equal than the male tribe. Let us raise our voices in unison, to demand our rightful place under the sun! Fight we must to be loved as human beings, not cherished as an object, plaything, ornament or special slaves. Let us see through the centuries of brain-washing done to us. Let us educate ourselves to be financially, emotionally, socially independent entities. Our voice will not be silenced! We own our bodies! It shall be our sole decision to give birth to a child or not! Our daughters shall be strong, healthy, career-oriented girls! Marriage how, when, why, with whom , or even being single, is our prerogative!
