A Novel By Syed Atya Tabassum
REVIEWED BY Syed Atya Tabassum

Novel : Sans Saakin Thi
Author : Nimra Ahmad Naizi
Language : Urdu
Reviewer : Syed Atya Tabassum
Nimra Ahmad Naizi a Pakistani celebrated Urdu Novelist is the household n
ames of indefatigable diligences. She came into the limelight after her first novel got published in the famed Pakistani Urdu magazine called Urdu digest “ founded by Altaf Hassan Qureshi “
Nimra Ahmad Naizi was just in her teens “ 16 years old” when she became the fixture of literary talks , Nimra didn’t subsidized her frenzied jingling of writing but kept them rocking on like a sea-shell to gather the music of her essentia .
Nimra Ahmad Naizi had to juxtapose writing as well as her studies, striking the odds with her gallantry courage she win her crackerjack by finishing successfully her post graduation when she was still 22 years old.
Now by this time , she determined towards writing and opted it her career and came with her another literary- feast “Mere Khwaab Mere Jugnu” as her novel .
Her second novel Sans Saakin Thi which was a cynosure in the literature circles talks about her prowess of the dictum that life imitates, this novel reveals it’s triumphalism on the Urdu landscape.
On embarking this novel it appeared an awe-inspiring for me , as the tone and style infused in me the new world which reveals for me the attitude how she marvellously employed her thoughts on her subject and mesmerized the readers mind by creating pulchritudinous sights .
Although, the novel has been the stringiness of diversely emerged criticism taking toll on its Plot it’s real and unreal nature , albeit my concern is elsewhere which witnesses my voyage on its texture.
This novel revolves around the literary device strategic essentialism , the story is told us about a cricketer , an obstinate dreamer , a woman who can’t yield any refusal for her dreams besides a cricketer she was a charismatic- perspicacious and a magnanimous-decent dwelled in the royal ancestry .
She lived without malice, sincerely and guileless dominated by her gigantic emotions she sans the sheer practicality of life , being orphaned she now stays with Raina who was the mother of Riyan.
Raina was the Sublime and reasonable woman the mutual attributes between them were their selflessness and another abstract quality of avenging was serving both of them.
The crystal clear depiction of the story also shows how the both had to pay the cost of their arrogance. Apart being some Mephistophelian scribes in their avenging rigidness the story goes in paternalistic in thematic exposure. The most vital theme which Nimra portrays is the climaxes of life it’s chunks pitches and ditches and conversely gives the remediation at rudimentary.
The events live into the womb of time, There is vernal zephyr , there is autumn drifting of leaves from the trees – it seems to demand to peel, to refresh , to start again .
On the onset phase of her life , Riyan had a swollen heart to become a painter but luck has something different stored for her. she turned out to be the swashbuckling cricket star with sovereign captaincy at her inchoate brimming phase of life.
The novel demands our stream of consciousness to dealt with the harsh realities of life . the author has excellently experienced the use of heteroglossia dictions.
The jubilations were short spanned, the dreams got snatched scattered mingled with the dusty mist of misfortunes.
Riyan had disparaged and panged him wholly, however the truth is Almas too was not right as she believed a person who was uncertain and an alien for her .
Discarded from her wrong decision she got betrayed by an unknown with all unkindness, now she developed a sense of avenging.
So , finally the time arrived , when Riyan was at his pinnacle and in the formidable shoes. then the black fairly blessings besieged had an accident on the same day when he was going to start the new phase of his life his bride was ornamented with all the dreams of the new dawn.
The dolefully moments befallen on the jocularity instead of landing into the room he found himself paralyzed into coma it seemingly appeared the pack up of his one decade productive international cricket life .
On the other side Almas was too broken and moved, her lava of avenging is no more simmering now on which she roasted herself for consecutive twelve years her nostrils were the chimneys through where the smoke of malice and burning avenge was coming out . The sense of revenge was completely disappeared from her eyes only left regret and remorse.
Here the author wants to convey the message that Allah is the best planner and returner of deeds. When Riyan was in coma both were so helpless that they forgot how to take revenge. The destiny was playing its game and who could overcome the decisions of destiny.
Here, the author connects the title of story so soulfully with the theme “The breath was frozen” (Sans Saakin Thi) . With the bread of Riyaan , two more breaths were connected. The breath of Rania and Almas who was also frozen. The other fascinating theme of the story is the emotional strength and firm faith that her son would come out from coma, even the doctors were not sure. For a year Rania was in hospital with her son. When he got up and was able to sit on wheelchair, it only was his great mother who took care of him for next one year just like a kid. It was only the dedication, faith and love of his mother that Riyan became again the shining Star of cricket world. It is well-said that the profession of a mother must be paid the highest salary. This downfall was a turning point for Almas as she left everything and turned towards Allah. At the end of the story, both were together again but these turns and twists taught them a lot.
In short, Nimra Ahmed has tried to make us aware about the simple philosophy of life. It is about ups and downs. While going through ups, we should be grateful. However, in downs, we should be patient. It’s the law of nature whatever we give it, it just pays back and sometimes with bonus . So, I recommend this story to every person, who wants to analyse the ups and downs of life.
