The recognition was given for her significant role in ensuring the smooth conduct of both Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Kotwal served as the Nodal Officer for the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. Her efforts focused on maximizing voter turnout and enhancing participation in the electoral process.

Building on her experience, she continued to oversee SVEEP activities during the subsequent General Assembly elections, contributing to transparent and efficient electoral processes in the Union Territory.

Kotwal has also been involved in media outreach, explaining processes such as home voting to the public, further promoting voter education and engagement.
