The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Sunday ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu Division for two days in view of a weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to an order issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director School Education Jammu, the schools shall remain closed on October 6 and 7 (Monday and Tuesday) to ensure the safety and security of students and staff.
“In view of the weather advisory predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of Jammu Division, and in order to ensure the safety and security of students and staff, it is hereby ordered that all Government and Private Schools across Jammu Division shall remain closed,” the order reads.
The decision comes after IMD forecasted widespread heavy rainfall likely to affect normal life and cause waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The Directorate has also directed officials to circulate the information widely through print and electronic media.
