Two rescued from River Tawi in Phallian Mandal, tribal family evacuated from River Lidder in Anantnag
Srinagar, July 23 : Jammu Police and SDRF teams carried out two separate rescue operations on Thursday, saving three people trapped in swollen rivers in Jammu and Anantnag districts.
Officials told that In Jammu, police along with SDRF rescued two persons trapped in River Tawi at Phallian Mandal.
The rescued have been identified as Farman Ali, 25, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Allora, and Farooq Ahmed, 28, son of Ali Hussain, resident of Sohanjana. Both were shifted to safety and are reported to be stable.
In Anantnag, SDRF Anantnag responded promptly on 23/07/2026 and successfully evacuated a tribal family trapped in River Lidder near Village Aang Matipora. The family had got stuck due to a sudden rise in the water level.
Officials said both operations were carried out without any casualties.
Authorities have urged people to avoid venturing near rivers and streams amid fluctuating water levels.
