Jammu April 24 : Describing proliferation of communal politics as hugely detrimental to the country’s pluralistic ethos. National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said the people of secular Jammu will defeat the BJP’s divisive agenda with their power of ballot. Addressing an election rally in support of the Congress candidate for the Jammu Lok Sabha Constituency Mr Raman Bhalla, as part of the INDIA BLOC arrangement at KHEARIAN in Jammu West Assembly Segment of Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, Mr Sadhotra said the communal politics jeopardizes the stability and progress of the Nation. It was organized by Sh Sukhram Bhagat.
He said India’s strength lies in its diversity, with a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and religions coexisting harmoniously. But the BJP appears to be hell bent upon exploiting communal and castebased politics for its political gains, ignoring that such a vicious game-plan has been eroding the foundation of India’s democratic values and unity in diversity. He cautioned the people to remain vigilant against the machinations of the saffron brigade that has been indulging in Hindutva politics for the past one decade. Mr Sadhotra said the unifying forces like the National Conference and the Congress are synonymous to Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Esai Itehad and this forms the political philosophy of the entire cadre of Shere-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah for decades. “While the BJP is pushing forward the politics of hate and intolerance, we have always nurtured secular-democratic society and our ideology for inclusive and equitable development and upliftment of weaker sections and those living in far-flung and remote areas is the focal point of our policy programme”, the Additional General Secretary said and added that the NC has been always striving for peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Sadhotra said that National Conference, being the peoples’ movement has always surmounted the challenges with resilience and fortitude at the strength of its dedicated cadre and would do so always with a sense of commitment. This is why the leadership has decided to strengthen the secular forces across the country under the umbrella of the INDIA BLOC to defeat the BJP’s fascist politics. Forming a formidable alliance by the National Conference and the Congress has unnerved the BJP, as it is reading writing on the wall about its debacle in the ongoing elections, he asserted. He sought overwhelming support for Mr Raman Bhalla, saying voting for him would mean voting for peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, the common plank of INDIA BLOC. He asserted that there is a sunami for change in Jammu and Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Raghubir Singh District President Rural A, Ashok Sharma, Subash Sharma, Mohinder Singh Rana and Sat Pal Karloopia.
