SRINAGAR 21 Aug : The Army on Friday safely destroyed a live mortar shell recovered from the Mankote sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The unexploded shell was detected in the Dabraj area, following which the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was deployed to deal with the explosive.

The squad conducted a controlled disposal operation and destroyed the mortar shell safely, officials said.
No casualties or damage to property were reported in the operation.
Authorities took precautionary measures following the recovery and ensured that the explosive was neutralised without incident.
The source of the mortar shell was not immediately known.
