Srinagar, July 14: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Mustafa Kamal passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness.
He breathed his last at a private hospital in Srinagar, family sources said.
The deceased will be laid to rest at Bominsar graveyard in Sonwar Srinagar.
Kamal, the younger brother of National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and uncle of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was a prominent political figure in Jammu and Kashmir, and had served the party in various capacities over the decades.
He had also served as a minister in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and remained an influential voice within the National Conference, actively participating in the party’s political affairs.
Soon after news of his demise spread, political leaders and party workers expressed grief and paid tributes to the veteran leader, recalling his long association with the National Conference and his contribution to public life.
