Srinagar, Aug 10 : The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday said its chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has been kept among criminals in Tihar jail and there is a possible threat to his life. Shah was on Wednesday sent to Tihar jail on a 14 day judicial remand by Delhi court.
Party’s secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari in a statement issued to press said though securing a meeting with Shah in Tihar jail to enquire about his health condition was extremely hard but jail authorities allowed a meeting for few minutes.
“We came to know that Shah Sahib has been kept among criminals and this poses a serious threat to his life,” Tari said and appealed to conscious people of India to help save the life of Shabir Ahmad Shah who has been declared as ‘Prisoner of Conscience’ by the Amnesty International.
Meanwhile, a party spokesperson paid glowing tributes to Zahid Ahmad Bhat, Ishfaq Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf Dar and 16-year-old student Younis Ahmad Sheikh who were martyred in Tral gunfight with forces.
Expressing condolence and solidarity with the bereaved families, the spokesperson said, “We’re equally grieved at this hour but have firm belief that these sacrifices won’t go waste. We’re guardians of the sacrifices of our martyrs.”
He also condemned the PSA on Islamabad youth Irfan Ahmad Khan who has been shifted to Kathua jail. (CNS)
