The Traders of Shaheed Gunj in uptown Srinagar on Thursday held a protest against closing of Shaheed Gunj road by using barricades for diversion by the Traffic Police.
Shaheed Gunj Traders federation president, Raja Fida Hussian Khan said they are suffering for the last two years due to closure of this road. “We are already in the loss from 2014, if customers cannot walk through our market how can we go ahead with our daily business,” he said.
He said that this is not diversion. This is simply closure of the road. “We have families to feed and our business depends on this road. How can we survive, if this road will not be opened? If being a shop keeper of Srinagar is crime then we must be punished at once,” he said.
He also said that Basant Rath was handling all the traffic mess of city individually, but now the Traffic police is only using barricades and closing the roads leading to problems for the common man and traders alike. (KNO)
