Shaheen urges LG to direct Private Schools not to charge school fee from students till lockdown

Take action against private schools for harassing parents over student party President Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory G M Shaleen on Saturday urged upon the LG G C Murmu to direct the Private Schools not to take any kind of school fee from the students till nation-wide lockdown.

Appreciating the government Principal Secretary School Education, Asgar Samoon for directing private schools to not charge fee from students for the period schools are closed in view of Covid-19 pandemic in J&K, Shaheen requested the government to take stern action under rules against those for any violation related to fee.“

He further said that it has come to notice of the Government that some private schools in UT of Jammu and Kashmir have fixed last date for depositing school fees and are sending various messages to students and their parents to deposit such fees immediately but government should identify such private Schools in public domain who are taking benefits of lockdown just for their vested interest.

He reminded the government about the complaints which have also been reported that parents are being harassed by school authorities and the teachers concerned to mandatorily submit their assignments on the same day. Whereas in view of existing pandemic situation, it may no be possible for students of their parents to deposit the school fees as per schedule fixed by various private schools.

He added that it is unethical to pressurize parents and students amidst prevailing circumstances to do so. Whereas, taking cognizance of the issue, in the interest of the public at large and students and their parents in particular.

Shaheen further urged upon the LG to personally intervene in the issue and to take action against all private schools affiliated with Board (CBSE/ICSE/JKBOSE/any other) functioning in UT of Jammu and Kashmir pertaining to any kind of violation related to harassing parents as far as demand of school fee is concerned. press secretary
