Inhabitants of Shangus in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district Saturday lodged a protest against Power Development Department over alleged unscheduled power supply to the village.

The protestors, as per , had assembled at main-chowk Shangus, bringing the vehicular traffic to a grinding halt.

Talking to media persons, the protesters alleged that they are witnessing frequent power outages, with the department despite many appraisals failing to do anything.

“They (PDD) have installed electric meters in Shangus even as hiked the fee, however no improvement has been noticed with regard to the electricity supply schedule”, a protester said.

We urge the authorities to intervene into the matter and provide the village with proper power supply, he said.

The protesters later on dispersed peacefully and the traffic movement restored on the road. (GNS)
