Shopian, Oct 12 : The Shopian Police has strongly denied circulating social media rumours alleging harassment of workers by police personnel in the Zainpora area during the ongoing apple harvesting season.
Police Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, It has come to the notice of Shopian Police that certain individuals on social media are spreading fake and baseless rumours regarding alleged harassment of workers by police personnel in Zainpora area during the ongoing apple harvesting season, it reads.
The incident has been brought into knowledge of field officer and fully verified, it reads.
No such incident has been found to have taken place. These false claims are being deliberately circulated to create panic and misunderstanding among the general public, it reads.
The Zainpora Police is fully committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety and support of orchardists and labourers during this crucial season. Strict legal action shall be taken against those spreading fake news or rumours under relevant sections of law, it reads.
