Sopore, June 15: A tragic incident occurred in the Main Chowk area of Sopore on Monday when a local shopkeeper allegedly consumed a poisonous substance and later succumbed despite medical efforts.

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Mehboob Hussain Langoo, son of Shamas-ud-Din Langoo C/o Shams Pan House, resident of Iqbal Nagar, Sopore, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance under circumstances that are yet to be ascertained. Soon after his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore for treatment.

However, despite the efforts of doctors and medical staff, Mehboob Hussain could not be saved and was declared dead at the hospital. The incident has sent shockwaves across the town, with relatives, friends, and local residents expressing grief over his sudden demise.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the matter and are expected to initiate necessary proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details are awaited.
