Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal plants Chinars on the eve of Chinar Day!

SRINAGAR, MAR 15 : To commemorate the Chinar day, various Chinars were planted by Sindh Forest Division across different areas of the district Ganderbal. The drive saw widespread and enthusiastic participation of locals, Panchayat representatives, paramilitary forces and sleuths of Forest territorial and protection force. 
 The drive was initiated by DFO Sindh, Owais Mir and Deputy Director FPF, Jan Mohammad Bhat at the Forest Protection complex Fathepora where Commanding Officers of 9CC and 43CC of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) also participated.
 16 chinar plants were planted in the Campus. Thereafter, chinar plantation was taken up by Range Officers in all the ranges wherein 18 plants were planted in Lar by RO Soil Ab Rashid, 22 plants were planted in Harran/Shallabugh by RO Hqrs Muneer Ahmed, 14 chinar plants were planted in Preng Gutlibagh by RO Manasbal Ali Mohd, 10 Chinar plants were planted in Kangan by RO Sindh Malik Feroz. 
Speaking on the occassion, DFO Sindh emphasised the importance of this heritage tree and revealed the efforts initiated by J&K Forest Department to promote its plantation under Green J&K Drive. 
He informed that Department has set division wise targets of chinars for this year and as per target 900 Chinars are to be planted in District Ganderbal in the current year.
