Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah met Dineshwar Sharma at his residence in Srinagar Wednesday morning.

“Mr Dineshawar Sharma & I met at my residence in Srinagar this morning. We discussed the prevailing situation in the state as also steps that can be taken to make his visits to the state more meaningful,” Omar wrote on his Twitter handle.

Talking to reporters after the meet, Abdullah said that Sharma called him and asked for suggestions on the job assigned to him.

“He asked for my opinion on how to effectively go about the work assigned to him. I hope he will act on my suggestions,” said Abdullah.

He also said that sitting in a guesthouse and waiting for people to come and meet him won’t yield results.

On Monday, Sharma, a former Intelligence Bureau head, arrived in Srinagar to initiate a “sustained dialogue” with stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Yesterday, he met with 37 delegations.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have already rejected talks with him. They have termed his appointment as “nothing more than a tactic to buy time” by New Delhi
