Srinagar, Jun 27 : In a significant outreach initiative, the SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Bemina, successfully organised a six-day comprehensive medical camp at Imambadah, Khomeini Chowk, Bemina, from 6th to 11th Muharram, officials said on Saturday.
The camp was conducted on the instructions of Health & Medical Education Minister, Ms Sakeena Itoo, and under the direct supervision of Principal Prof (Dr) Fazlul Qadir Parray and Medical Superintendent Dr Shafa Deva, they said.
Director SKIMS Prof Dr Mohd Ashraf Ganie extended full support to the endeavour, they added.
A dedicated team of Chief Medical Officers, doctors, nurses, dressers, pharmacists, and paramedical staff remained available round the clock throughout the camp, providing medical care and emergency services to mourners participating in Muharram processions and religious congregations.
Essential medicines, first aid, emergency treatment, and referral services were made readily available to ensure timely medical assistance, officials said.
The camp catered to a significant number of patients presenting with dehydration, minor injuries, fatigue, and other health conditions commonly associated with the observance of Muharram.
The medical team worked tirelessly to ensure prompt and compassionate healthcare delivery, they added.
Prof Parray appreciated the dedication, professionalism, and selfless service rendered by the healthcare personnel. He also expressed gratitude to the District Administration, Police, volunteers, and management of Imambadah Khomeini Chowk for their invaluable cooperation in ensuring the smooth functioning of the medical camp.
Medical Superintendent Dr Shafa Deva commended the coordinated efforts of the doctors, nursing staff, pharmacists, and paramedical personnel, whose commitment ensured uninterrupted healthcare services throughout the Muharram period.
