Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were badly affected on Friday as 26 flights were cancelled due to continuous snowfall at Srinagar and a NOTAM in force at Delhi Airport, officials said.
According to airport authorities, the cancellations include flights operated by Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and SpiceJet, affecting air connectivity with major cities including Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Officials said that four flights were cancelled due to the NOTAM at Delhi Airport. These include Air India flight AI-1799/AI-1810, Air India Express flight IX-1980/IX-1017, Akasa Air flight QP-1802/QP-1803 and SpiceJet flight SG-661/SG-664, all operating on the Delhi sector.
The remaining 22 flights were cancelled due to bad weather conditions at Srinagar, triggered by ongoing snowfall and poor visibility. These include Akasa Air flights QP-1637/1638 (Mumbai sector) and Air India Express flights IX-1012/1041 (Delhi sector) and IX-1271/1272 (Jammu sector).
A large number of IndiGo flights were also affected due to snow-related disruptions. These include 6E-6497/6262 (Bengaluru–Chandigarh), 6E-6016/6780 (Delhi–Jammu), 6E-6757 (Jammu–Delhi), 6E-5133/6854 (Delhi sector), 6E-6164/6165 (Amritsar sector), 6E-2202/2203 (Mumbai sector), 6E-6265/6266 (Ahmedabad sector), 6E-6288/0478 (Amritsar sector), 6E-2044 (Delhi–Jammu), 6E-6762 (Jammu–Delhi), 6E-6352/6498 (Chandigarh–Bengaluru), 6E-5106/5070 (Delhi sector), 6E-6253 (Hyderabad sector), 6E-2207/6761 (Delhi sector), 6E-5539/6431 (Leh–Chandigarh) and 6E-5874/6041 (Chandigarh sector).
Officials said flight operations will remain subject to improvement in weather conditions. Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines and check the latest flight status before planning their journey.
Airport authorities expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and said updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
