A 24-year-old Army soldier was killed in an “accidental discharge of his weapon” along Line of Control Poonch district on Wednesday, officials said.

The injured soldier, a rifleman, was taken to hospital where he was declared dead, the officials told GNS.

He has been identified as Deepak Verma (24). The incident, they said, took place near Noorkote along LoC. Further proceedings have been started into the incident, they added.
