Srinagar 23 Sep : Hoteliers in Sonamarg have urged the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to restore uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply to hotels in the tourist destination, saying frequent interruptions and restricted power supply are affecting their operations and inconveniencing visitors.
In a letter addressed to the Superintending Engineer, KPDCL Ganderbal, the Beopar Mandal Association Sonamarg said continuous electricity was essential for maintaining basic hotel services, including lighting, heating and cooling, kitchen operations and water supply.
The association said the disruptions were also affecting guest safety and comfort and were having a negative impact on business operations and the reputation of Sonamarg as a tourist destination.
“We are writing on behalf of hoteliers located in Sonamarg District Ganderbal to request the restoration of uninterrupted 24×7 electricity supply to our establishment,” the association said.
The traders’ body stated that all dues related to electricity consumption had been cleared and that the hoteliers were compliant with the regulations set by the department.
It requested KPDCL to restore and ensure uninterrupted power supply at the earliest.
