The journalists working with different media outlets from Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district here have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide movement passes to them. The journalists told news agency, that the journalists from Baramulla town have although received the movement passes, but those scribes working from Sopore town have been ignored as no movement pass has been issued to them so far.

“The attitude Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla towards journalists from Sopore is unacceptable,” the scribes said, adding that the DC Bla and District Information Officer has issued movement passes only to the journalists of Baramulla town while some of the media passes have been reportedly given to shopkeepers, students and others. However, at the same time, the journalists who work from Sopore town have been left to lurch as they are being denied the movement passes.

“It is unfortunate that the movement passes are being given only to those who are known to the Deputy Commissioner and other officials,” they said. They said the journalists from the town are not being allowed to perform their professional duties without proper movement passes. “We approached the district administration many times in this regard but all in vein,” they said. They later appealed Divisional Commissioner, Chief Secretary and other higher officials to look into the matter and ensure the journalists would get the movement passes to perform their duties .(KNO)
