Fishes died after unknown persons cut off water to the farm: Family

At a time when everyone was busy in celebrating Eid-ul-fitr, tragedy struck to a family in Anantnag district as they lost fish stock of around one year.

Abdul Majid Mir son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir resident of Amad Wagad area in Anantnag lost around 10 quintal fishes as some unknown persons had cut—off the water to their farm due to which all the fish died.

Ab Majid Mir who is father of five daughters talking with news agency, said that everything was ok till Fajr (Pre-Dawn) prayers and while he was in Masjid after prayers he heard the weeping voice outside.

“I was shocked when I found those who were weeping were my daughters and their mother and once I asked them the reason they said that some body has cut off water to our fish farm and all fish of our farm have died,”he said.

Since last August we were rearing these fish and at present there were at least 10 quintal fishes and all have died, he said, adding that they don’t have any other source of livelihood and whole family was dependent on it.

Locals also said that whole family were working day night at the farm to earn livelihood but someone has played mischief and spoiled the hardwork of whole year.

They requested government to identify the persons involved in mischief and take legal action against them besides compensation to the family—(KNO)
