A gunfight is underway between militants and the security forces in Reban village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.

“Encounter has started in Shopian. Police and security forces are at the spot,” said a police spokesman on Twitter.
The encounter broke out after the forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the village following inputs about the presence of militants.
Unconfirmed reports said one militant has been killed in the ongoing firefight. However, there has been no official confirmation so far.
