The total number of cases reported in the district has reached 100.

The fresh cases, as per sources, were reported from Rainawari (08), Narwara (01) and Solina (01) areas.

One of them is a health worker who was on home quarantine for the last two weeks

“Covid fight belongs to Citizens. Alert, responsive & truthful. Flagged by neighbours a resident arriving clandestinely, picked up promptly, tested positive. Let’s not rush, rather follow protocols. Narwara now Red Zone,” tweeted Dc Srinagar Shahid Choudhary.

Srinagar Mayor, Junaid Mattu said the new positive cases in Rainawari were contact of the elderly patient who passed away recently.

“A sudden spurt in cases – all new positive cases in Rainawari are contact cases of elderly patient who passed away a few days back. Another case in Narwara has come in clandestinely and not disclosed his arrival. TRAGIC! SMC focusing on Narwara, Rainawari, Bemina, Solina today,” he tweeted.

He also confirmed that one of the cases was a health worker.

“Another positive case that of an allied/administrative staff employee from a hospital. Thankfully was off duty since two weeks and under home quarantine after showing respiratory symptoms. Tested negative previously. Re-tested and now positive. Shows – need to remain vigilant!” Mattu tweeted.

The Mayor said that the general sanitization roster was suspended for Saturday as all SMC Decontamination manpower was to focus on sites of positive cases

“Please don’t take this pandemic lightly. Still a long long way to go before we could possibly be out of this,” he tweeted.

J&K so far has over 639 cases of which 247 have recovered. Eight people have died of the virus. ( KM )
