Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Lakshay Sharma-IPS, inaugurated a Special Cell dedicated to providing support and assistance to women affected by violence at Police Station Bandipora.
This initiative aligns with the guidelines issued by the Police Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir and is supported by the National Commission for Women, with implementation overseen by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai.
On this occasion, SSP Bandipora said that functioning of the Women Cell aims to provide a safe passage and space to women for reporting their grievances and seeking assistance besides ensuring more gender sensitive approach to law enforcement agency. This initiative will definitely provide a safe passage to women for immediate response in case of family violence or atrocities against women, police assistance in registering complaints, counselling, referral for seeking other services like medical, psychiatric, educational, legal aid through concerned authority and many more services for the care and protection of women besides rebuilding, self-respect and dignity of women.
DySP Hqrs Bandipora is functioning as Nodal officer of the cell besides two professional social workers namely Ifla Erum and Snober Ali deputed by National Commission for women are also part of the cell whose role is to provide legal aid, counselling and other assistance to the women effected by violence.
