Srinagar 03rd November, 2017

State Party President of JDU J&K G.M Shaheen has strongly condemned the order by government about the Opening of New Liquor shop at Srinagar Airport. Shaheen said that our Party will go for protest (Airport Challo) if the government does not stop orders to open Liquor shop in Srinagar Airport. He said that if alcohol is banned in Gujarat and Bihar which is Hindu dominated state why such steps are not taken in Muslim dominated State. Government said that it will boost the tourism by opening alcohol shop in Srinagar airport but this policy has been formulated to  get youth of the valley indulged in Alcohol and drugs. People of Kashmir can never accept this type of tourism. We want to tell the government that scenic beauty of Kashmir is enough for attracting tourists here, Shaheen said.

He said that the Jammu and Kashmir State is only Muslim majority state of India and its subjects have high religious consciousness due to presence of vast numbers of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist shrines form length to breadth of its area, where BJP and PDP coalition government has given a free hand to the alcohol and drugs which destroy the structure of our Kashmiriyat.

He said J&K government should follow the good practice of Bihar and Gujrat and declare the state as the liquor free state. He appealed to the government for reconsider its decision. Opening of Liquor Shop in Sheikh-ul-Aalam (R.A) Airport is disrespect to the name of the saint which is completely unacceptable. He also said it is the responsibility of all religious groups, society, social organizations and also political parties to come forward and oppose the new mischievous and sinister excise policy of the govt and push for totally alcohol prohibition in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and also State Government must to take strong notice against the Alcoholism in Jammu and Kashmir. So that our Kashmir is free from those social evils.
