Srinagar, Nov 23: National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmad on Sunday reiterated that the restoration of Statehood to Jammu & Kashmir remains the party’s foremost priority and will be the first issue it raises during the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament beginning December 1.
Mian Altaf said the party has been unwavering in its stand and will continue pressing the Union government to restore Statehood without further delay.
“We have repeatedly raised the demand for Statehood in Parliament. Every single day we are seeking its restoration, and this will once again be our first point of focus when the session begins,” he said.
He added that the National Conference has already submitted a series of questions concerning key public issues in Jammu & Kashmir.
“We have filed several questions on various matters for the upcoming session, and we expect these to be included in the list of business,” he said.
The MP further noted that the party will scrutinize all bills tabled during the session and intervene wherever necessary.
“Whatever bills come before Parliament, we will study them thoroughly. Wherever required, we will speak on them. If we are allotted time, we will also highlight other important issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
The Winter Session of Parliament will be held from December 1 to December 19, comprising 15 working days. Traditionally convened in the third week of November, the session concludes ahead of Christmas. Last year, the Winter Session ran from November 25 to December 20.
