Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said 800 to 900 people who had hidden their travel history were traced.
“They traced through control room due to crowd sourcing of information and were quarantined or put under isolation,” DC Srinagar said in a joint presser along with SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughal.
“Our fight is not only against CoronavirusOutbreak . We are also focussing on patients suffering for other terminal illnesses,” he added.
“Present scenario is concerning as many cases have been reported from Srinagar. Srinagar has 14 red zones – Chattabal, LalBazar, Eidgah and Goripora main areas of concern among Red Zones.”
DC Srinagar added that Srinagar city has been divided into 25 zones.
“We have 1000 teams, with 4000 people on job in these zones. We have to ensure that there is no leakage from Red Zones.”
Regarding the availability of essentials, Dr Choudhary said two aircrafts of medicine have arrived on April 6 and 7 and one more is expected today.
“There is no shortage of medcines. We will ensure to get required medicine from any place across the country. It is our duty.”
He added, “We have stock of life saving drugs for around six weeks. We are open to inspection if anybody has doubt.” Doctors and paramedical staff are risking their lives in line of duty. Supplies of PPEs and masks is streamlined, DC said.
He also said 9000 counter transaction and 19000 ATM transactions are happening everyday amid lockdown.
Regarding the question of whether Kashmir has entered community transmission phase, DC Srinagar said,”
I can’t answer about community spread of coronavirus in ‘yes or no’ as there could be a lot of people who have still not disclosed their travel history.
I have two people who wrote they came from Delhi but we’re abroad.”
SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughal who also spoke on the occasion said five FIRs were registered last night during Shab e Barat as people were adamant to visit graveyard.
“We can pray at home. Even Holy Kabba is closed. We also respect religious sentiment like ours, but these are critical times.”
SSP asked people not to come out of thier homes, ” we have deployments on ground.Aerial surveillance is conducted through drones besudes cctvs are being monitored. This is not usual law and order lockdown. This is 24×7 lockdown. Don’t come out in the evening like you did during other days,” he said.
He also said that mownpasses will be valid from place of stay to place of work only.
“Inter-district movement has to be restricted. Family and friends won’t be entertained on one pass.”
