Shri Saurabh Bhagat(IAS), Commissioner / Secretary to Government,
Science & Technology Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir
chaired a high level review meeting of both the organizations of Science
& Technology Department in Jammu today to discuss about the issues
related to the budget announcements, deliverables and action taken
report with regard to its implementation and outcome achieved so far. It
was divulged in the meeting that the matter has been taken up with
NCSM, Ministry of Culture, GOI for sending the team of experts to have the
site inspection at Chowadhi, Jammu so that the process for transfer of
land is taken up further with the revenue authorities. Regarding the
sponsored Research & Development Projects of Jammu division, it was
disclosed that the research is being undertaken at various R&D Institutions
viz. Jammu University, SKUAST-J, SMVDU, Katra, Baba Ghulam Shah
Badshah University, Central University of Jammu, IIIM etc. Bhagat issue
directions on the spot to the concerned officers asking all the Principal
Investigators (PIs) to come up with the detailed outcome of the research
findings so far with recommendations and suggestions along with proper
documentation so that it could be published in the form of book.
Pertinent to mention that during the first tranche, JKST&IC has funded 123
Research Projects across UT and further it was decided in the meeting that
Rs.20.00 to 24.00 Cr in the second tranche should be earmarked for 200-
250 projects.
Shri Saurabh Bhagat(IAS), Commissioner / Secretary impressed upon the
officers of JAKEDA to fast track their efforts in order to create massive
awareness about the Non-Conventional & Renewable Energy. He also
emphatically spoke about the benefits of the PM-Kusam and asked the
officers to make it successful across the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the officers viz. Dr. Nasir
Shah, Additional Director, Shri Sanjay Kharoo , Smt Sunita Razdan, Joint
Directors, Shri M.A. Bhat, Smt Rashim Deepika, FA/CAO, Shri Shafiq
Ahmad, Additional Secretary , S&T Department and Dr. P.R. Dhar, CEO,
JAKEDA .
Later on, an award distribution function for Science Talent Promotion
Scholarship of JKST&IC awardees at +10 / +12 / PG levels students was held
at Department of Human Genetics, University of Jammu and was
distributed by Dr. Nasir Shah, Additional Director along with Shri Sanjay
Kharoo, Joint Director, JKST&IC respectively. 126 scholarships were
awarded across UT of JK with 51 scholarships at +10 level, 50 scholarships
at +12 level & 25 scholarships at PG level respectively, out of which 25
scholarships at +10 level, 25 scholarships at +12 level & 12 scholarships at
PG level, making it total of 62 scholarships for Jammu division was
distributed while as rest of the scholarships were earlier distributed in a
function organized separately at Srinagar. A review about the Genetic
Counseling cum Research Centre was taken by the Dr. Nasir Shah
Additional Director & his team in which Prof. Parvinder Kumar, Human
Genetics Department made a power point presentation about the work
done.
