Srinagar: Heartiest congratulations to Shri Sujit Kumar, IPS, on taking charge as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone. His appointment marks an important moment for the Kashmir Valley and comes with great expectations from the people, the police fraternity and all those who look forward to continued peace, stability and development in the region.
In my view, Sujit Kumar IPS is among the finest and most capable officers in the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the wider IPS fraternity. His professionalism, discipline, leadership qualities, administrative experience and ability to remain composed in challenging circumstances make him particularly suited for one of the most demanding policing assignments in the country.
The responsibility of leading the Kashmir Zone is enormous. It requires an officer who can take firm decisions when necessary, understand the complexities of the security environment and, at the same time, maintain the confidence of ordinary citizens. Sujit Kumar has the experience and leadership temperament required to take on this responsibility with determination.
A major focus of his tenure will naturally be the continued fight against militancy and terrorism. Kashmir has witnessed significant progress on the security front, but the threat from militant networks and forces attempting to disturb peace cannot be underestimated. With his experience, strategic understanding and decisive approach, Sujit Kumar is expected to lead the Jammu and Kashmir Police with renewed strength and determination against these challenges.
I firmly believe that under his leadership, the security forces can further tighten the noose around militant networks and work towards making Kashmir increasingly peaceful and secure. His leadership can provide the kind of coordinated and professional approach required to confront terrorism effectively while protecting the lives, dignity and rights of ordinary citizens.
But strong policing is not limited to security operations. The real measure of successful leadership is also the ability to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public. A confident, responsive and people-oriented police force can play a vital role in creating an environment where citizens feel secure and institutions command respect.
For the Jammu and Kashmir Police fraternity, Sujit Kumar’s appointment is a moment of pride. His reputation as a dedicated, courageous and professionally committed officer has created considerable expectations from his tenure.
As a well-wisher and someone who deeply respects the men and women who serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to Shri Sujit Kumar IPS. I am confident that his tenure as IGP Kashmir will be remembered for decisive leadership, professional policing, strengthened security and a renewed commitment to peace.
Congratulations, Shri Sujit Kumar IPS. May your tenure bring greater peace, security and confidence to the people of Kashmir.
