TAAI J&K Chapter Holds Members’ Meeting at Hotel Taj Srinagar
The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Jammu & Kashmir Chapter, successfully conducted its Second Bi-Monthly Members’ Meeting today at Hotel Taj Srinagar. The meeting fostered meaningful discussions on challenges, opportunities, and the future of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.

Discussions and Key Resolutions
Members engaged in in-depth deliberations on the current tourism scenario, with a strong focus on protecting the interests of local travel agents. It was emphasized that immediate measures must be taken to safeguard the livelihoods of travel professionals, as the industry faces mounting challenges. A resolution was passed, committing the TAAI J&K Chapter, in collaboration with other travel and tourism associations, to take necessary steps to ensure the survival and growth of local travel businesses.
Concerns were raised that if urgent action is not taken, the deteriorating condition of the travel sector could result in over 50,000 people losing their jobs in the coming years. The discussion highlighted the need for government intervention, policy reforms, and industry-friendly measures to prevent further setbacks.

Presence of Special Guests
The meeting was honored by the presence of Hon’ble Members of the Legislative Assembly, Janab Tanvir Sadiq (Zadibal Constituency) and Shamima Firdous (Habba Kadal Constituency). Members apprised them of key issues affecting the travel and tourism industry, including:
• Safeguarding the interests of local travel agents in Jammu & Kashmir
• Unprecedented entry fees at Srinagar airport.
• Infrastructure development, including refreshment points and hygienic washrooms en route to hill stations
• Flight connectivity improvements
• Airport access fees for private and commercial vehicles (referred & identified as a major burden on the industry).
Hon’ble MLA Zadibal, Janab Tanvir Sadiq, assured the members that he would take the issue of airport access fees forward with the relevant authorities, ensuring that the concerns of travel agents and transport operators are addressed.

presentation by Mr. S. Ameen Abbas, Manager Sales (J&K/Ladakh), IndiGo. His insightful session on IndiGo’s vast network, Stretch Business Class, and BluChip was highly commendable, providing valuable product knowledge to the attendees.
He also introduced IndiGo’s latest offerings for the region, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and supporting the local travel industry.
Additionally, he discussed a special login facility exclusively for TAAI J&K Chapter members, allowing them to book tickets at competitive rates with added benefits. This initiative was widely appreciated by the members, as it ensures better pricing and smoother operations for local travel agents.
