Pahalgam, April 5: The Jammu & Kashmir Chapter of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) held its third bi-monthly meeting today in the scenic town of Pahalgam, with active participation from its members.

Key issues discussed included better access to company representatives at Srinagar Airport and the allocation of a dedicated quota of Gulmarg Gondola cable car tickets for local travel agents.

The members emphasized the need to streamline the functioning of travel agencies in the region, insisting that only licensed agents with proper office setups should be allowed to operate. Concerns were raised over individuals working from home, which was seen as unprofessional and harmful to legitimate businesses.

It was also noted that some travel agents were allegedly involved in unethical business practices that distort fair competition. Senior members suggested that the chapter leadership should continue to take a proactive role in addressing and curbing such issues, as it has done in the past.

The chapter Chairman Mr. Sameer Baktoo reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical practices and protecting the interests of genuine travel professionals in Jammu & Kashmir.
