A shutdown is being observed in Tahab village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against alleged harassment of civilians during nocturnal search and cordon operation.*
Residents of the village told media sources that on Monday evening there was a firing incident near a CRPF camp in Tahab village after which a cordon and search operation was launched in the village.
Local residents alleged that during the nocturnal cordon and search some residents were thrashed by forces personnel and window panes of houses were also smashed by the forces.
Some of the Kashmiri Pandits, who reside at Tahab village, also informed that they were also harassed and beaten by the army.
One of the Pandits told that his son-in-law, who was on a visit to them, was also beaten-up.
Since early morning of Tuesday, the villagers hit the streets to protest against the forces action.
The locals demand relocation of joint CRPF and Army camp from the area.
