Srinagar, Mar 27 2020

Rajya Sabha Member Fayaz Mir on Thursday requested Punjab government to ensure food and shelter facilities for stranded students, businessmen and laborers who have been stuck amid current situation.

Mir in a tweet said, “Thousands of Kashmiri students, businessmen and laborers are stranded all over Punjab with many in dire circumstances without access to food and hygienic arrangements”.

In another tweet he request Punjab government to ensure food and shelter and logistic arrangement for them. “Request Punjab CM @capt_amarinder to please ensure food and shelter facilities for them & if and when feasible please do secure logistic arrangements to J&K on humanitarian grounds”, Mir tweeted.

Meanwhile the counterpart of Mir from Punjab replied, “@CMOPb I just received information of Kashmiri students/professionals/laborers stranded in Punjab from my colleague Mir Mohd Fayaz. I request that suitable arrangements for food and shelter be made at the earliest”.

Subsequently CMO Punjab took note of the matter and tweeted, “Thank you for informing, given details have been sent to the respective response team”.

Mir, a sitting Rajya Sabha member thanked Chief Minister Punjab’s response. “Thank you Honourable @CMOPb for your prompt response and words of assurance. Your leadership has been exemplary in securing the lives of people of Punjab. My wishes will always be with you”.

It is pertinent to mention that since COVID-19 hit Indian states, hundreds of students, businessmen and other Kashmiris got stuck at several cities and could not move due to suspension of aerial and surface traffic. They repeatedly requested Central and J&K government to ensure their return to Valley in wake of Corona Virus pandemic.
