A strategically important meeting of the general council of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Forum was conducted on 7th November 2020 in forums’ central office in Srinagar. The meeting which was presided over by the president, Mr Mohammad Akbar Khan was attended by most state, provincial body members and district presidents. In addition to discussing a whole lot of issues faced by the teaching fraternity of the state threadbare discussion was carried out on the proposed roadmap to solve these issues. At the start, Mr Showkat Ali Beigh, briefed the leaders about the 22 point memorandum which was presented by School Education Employees Coordination Committee (SEECC) to Worthy Commissioner Secretary Education. Mr Beigh conveyed the willingness of worthy commissioner Secretary to resolve the issues. The issue of granting in-situ promotions hogged the limelight. All the leaders present in the meeting urged the concerned quarters to bring exigency in the process. A serious discussion was carried out on the issue and the leaders vehemently pressed for a quick disposal of time bound promotion cases. The issue of confirmation of 2014 batch masters also gained prominence and an appeal was made to the authorities to dispose off the issue as the issue warrants immediate redressal. Filling of vacant posts of C.E.O’s, D.I.E.T Principals, H.O.D’s, Principals, Z.E.O’s and headmasters also came up for discussion and the leaders urged upon the authorities to fill these vacant posts so that official work does not suffer. All the leaders who spoke on the occasion said that many issues have either been resolved or nearing resolution in DSEK and those which are facing a delay in getting resolved will be taken up with DSEK by the leadership. Almost all the leaders present in the meeting stressed on the need to strengthen the organization and lend all sort of support to it. On this occasion the speakers highlighted the need to stand unified and empower the organization which has become the voice of teachers in all divisions of the U.T. The leaders unanimously pledged their support to the organization.The presidential address was given by the president, Mr Mohammad Akbar Khan. While addressing an attentive gathering of leaders, Mr Khan said that the leaders should work selflessly to strengthen the organization at grass root level. He said that the constitution of any organization is a vital document which guides the policies, strategies and structure of an organization. Discipline, being the hallmark of a strong organisation, is the outcome of constitution and can be maintained by following the constitution in letter and spirit. While hailing the efforts of the Zonal and District presidents, Mr Khan said that these leaders are the vital cogs in the organizational set up who ensure that all the stakeholders gel together like a family. Praising the role of district presidents, Mr Khan said that the district presidents have provided unflinching support to the organisation and it is their unvawering faith which has brought teachers’ forum to the place where it currently stands. He said that teachers’ forum has emerged out of the most difficult and turbulent times and the contribution of District and zonal presidents to evolve out of such grim times cannot be ignored. On this occasion a selfless soldier of teachers forum, Mr Malik Fayaz, was incorporated in executive body and as a mark of respect and acknowledgement to his selfless services he was garlanded.
