The nations are build by its youth. Empowered youth can prove to be an endless caravan that drives a nation towards success and prosperity.
However, the violent conflict has snatched basic rights of youth. The right to dream, the right to be guided, the right to self awareness, the right to develop self esteem, the right to belief in self and right to construct a destiny of their choice.
Sensing this deficit in J&K, a group of right thinking young men and women supported by organizations and institutions vowed to help youth unconditionally. They came forward, joined hands and thus project NIRMAAN came into being.
They worked as the torch bearers for the youth and it was called themselves as Team Nirmaan.
Team Nirmaan consists of some highly qualified individuals who have come together with their individual strengths with aim of bringing about productive change.
Project Nirmaan was designed to steer the youth of the UT for designing a future for themselves and realizing it too.
On 26th October 2020, Project Nirmaan was officially launched with the first phase of the extensive outreach program for the youth of Kashmir. Within one month of starting this venture, it has already generated interests and cultivated the idea of productive togetherness with harmony and bonhomie. It is growing by leaps and bounds.
As per Gagan Takyar, th executive head of NIRMAAN, “The initiative is meant to undertake consecutive engagement with the youth for identification of their core competencies, grooming them and mapping their efforts with opportunities.”
“Project Nirmaan has programs designed to work, to Engage, Educate, Encourage, Excite and Expand up to core the abilities of youth.” he added.
A photography contest judged by the famous photographers Akshay Rajput and Amit Rane witnessed a thunderous response from the youth of the UT.
It is now entering the second month with a new theme ‘Winter in Kashmir’.
E-learning courses specifically selected after a lot of research are being made available for deserving candidates on the Project Nirmaan website in the second half of December 2020.
It is a scholarship program engineered to pick candidates on basis of an aptitude test. A career counsellor will also be made available to the students to help in making the right choices.
“Team Nirmaan strives to serve as an outreach for the youth of Kashmir to guide them in building character, taking ownership of pursuing their dreams and providing them the necessary tools.
One of the most exciting programs currently running on Project Nirmaan is the search for the Voice of Kashmir in collaboration with Shankar Mahadevan.
“I’m really excited about this collaboration between my Academy – the Shankar Mahadevan Academy and Project Nirmaan. Together They are bringing Voice of Kashmir – a musical talent hunt for the youth of the Kashmir valley.
As Kashmir has been long inspired by many poets and musicians and they hope that such platform will provide the young singers and musicians of Kashmir a chance to display their potential. The winners will get a scholarship to learn music from the Academy!” Said Shankar Mahadevan.
Shankar Mahadevan Academy was founded in 2011 under the guidance and leadership of the award-winning composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan and his friend and technology entrepreneur Sridhar Ranganath.
With it’s non-profit arm, Shankar Mahadevan Academy has also launched various programs to bring music to the underprivileged and started a choir of children.
He also brought rare archives of musical composition to life and created musical programs to raise social awareness.
Shankar Mahadevan Academy has till date over 28000 students from 81 countries and conducted over 2,00,000 virtual classes. The Academy operates its classes 24/7.
J&K needs more and more selfless people to come forward and take on the challenges being faced by the youth. The manner in which large number of young minds are seeking the support of Nirmaan, indicates the true sense that prevails among them. The society owes to them and a great future awaits them.
