Team RTO Jammu launches special drives against traffic violators, imposes Rs. 3.25 lakh fine

A team of Motor Vehicles Department, headed by RTO, Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra laid special naka at different locations on Jammu-Udhampur and Jammu-Pathankot National Highway during the past week to check various visible offences under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.

Nearly 280 vehicles, which included Buses, Tippers, Trucks, School Buses and Tempo Travellers, were checked for the offences viz. Route Permit violations, Overloading, Over speeding, protruding of rods, without Uniform and without Driving License. As many as 76 vehicles were challaned/compounded and an amount of Rs. 1.30 lacs was recovered on the spot and Rs 1.95 lacs is expected to be recovered from the remaining challans.

The enforcement team, comprising of Mohammad Saleem, ARTO (HQ), Jammu; Pawan Sharma, ARTO (G); Tara Mani Sharma, ARTO (Flying Squad); Motor vehicles Inspectors Rajeev Kundal Anupam Gandotra and Ranjeev Bhasin.
