Srinagar, July 16: A teenage boy died after being rescued from the Doodh Ganga stream near Bulbul Bagh in Srinagar and shifted to a hospital in critical condition on Thursday, officials said.

According to officials, a police team retrieved the boy, believed to be around 16 years old, from the stream near the Doodh Ganga gauge point at Bulbul Bagh and rushed him to SMHS Hospital in an unconscious state.

Hospital sources said the teenager was admitted in critical condition but succumbed despite the efforts of doctors.

Police initially said they were working to establish the victim’s identity. However, sources later identified him as Anayat Qasim, a resident of Batamaloo in Srinagar.

Police have initiated legal proceedings and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
